Waxing Information
A Light Touch
The pain involved with this procedure can be slight or moderately severe and can
continue for quite some time (from several seconds to minutes). The pain should lessen
with each subsequent treatment.

Pain is greatest immediately before and during menstruation, when the area is most
sensitive. The area is least sensitive about a week after menstruation; this is the ideal time
for waxing.
What to Expect
Before we begin I want to answer any questions you may have, and go
over how to care for your skin after a waxing treatment to achieve the
best results, and address any concerns you might have. Don’t hesitate to
tell me specifically what you want, strip, no strip, or perhaps a shape like a
heart, lightning bolt, etc. There’s no reason to be shy with such requests –
I have heard it all
.

You will undress from the waist down(even the panties).
On the table you will find a folded towel. You will keep
this towel between your legs so that you are always
covered during your session. It is very important that
you feel comfortable and as relaxed as possible.

Once you have the towel in place, and are comfortable
on the table we will begin. The procedure starts with oil
being spread liberally over the area to be waxed. This prevents the wax
from sticking to the sensitive skin. Then, as in other forms of waxing, the
wax is spread over the area from which hair is to be removed. The wax is
allowed to harden briefly, then one edge of the wax strip is quickly pulled
up and off. This procedure removes the wax, hair, and any dead skin cells
lying on the skin surface. The person performing the wax will then finish
with tweezers to remove any stray hairs that the waxing may have missed.

Depending on the style of wax you’re getting, be prepared for the
aesthetician to move your body around. For a Brazilian wax, you may be
asked to pull a knee up to your chest (so the waxer can reach sensitive
areas)etc. If you’re also waxing your buttocks, you may need to hold your,
er, cheeks apart. Obviously, this procedure isn’t for the shy or faint at
heart.

Let’s be honest – waxing doesn’t tickle. But a little
discomfort is worth it for skin that stays smooth for
at least a couple weeks. If the “ouch” factor has
you stressed, pop an ibuprofen 20 minutes before
the treatment to help with the pain. You can also
try a numbing cream like No Scream Cream
(Available for $20)
With the fuzz now under control, you may actually
be eager to don a swimsuit and head to the beach.
However, steer clear of the pool or ocean for at least
24 hours – your freshly-waxed skin may be extra
sensitive. Ditto goes for really hot showers, soaps or
lotions with perfumes, exercise, etc. Basically you
want to avoid any product or activity that might
irritate the area.
Whether you are getting your eyebrows cleaned up
and shaped, or a more adventerous wax undertaking
such as the brazilian, it is important that you choose
an experienced esthetician for your temporary hair
removal needs. Why would you trust your skin to
just anyone?

Lets face it... waxing is not one of our favorite things
to do.. but unless you are willing/able to get laser
hair removal, or the more painful and less effective
electrolysis treatments... it is a necessary evil.

I try very hard to make sure all of my clients are as
comfortable as possible. I always test the
temperature of the wax on myself before putting it
on a clients skin... I have never burned anyone, and
I don't ever plan to!
